紫钗记(莎士比亚诗剧体全译本)

临川四梦又称玉茗堂四梦。临川文学的经典名作，指明代剧作家汤显祖的《牡丹亭》《紫钗记》《邯郸记》《南柯记》四剧的合称。本书是一个仿莎士比亚诗剧的《紫钗记》英文全译本，在每一出的开场摘录经典名句，搭配明代刻本精美插图。汤显祖被誉为“东方的莎士比亚”，译者受“汤莎并举”的启发，在翻译时贴近莎士比亚诗剧，以经典译经典：形式上使用莎剧常用的无韵诗、对偶句、歌谣以及叙事散文等文体；内容上采撷莎剧中特有的台词和表达方式。用词古雅，精彩纷呈；韵律优美，朗朗上口。阅读这个译本，读者既能领略《紫钗记》的情感和意境之美，又能从字里行间品出浓浓的莎剧味道。

汤显祖，字义仍，号海若、清远道人、若士、茧翁，书斋号玉茗堂，江西抚州府临川县（今抚州市临川区）人。生于明嘉靖二十九年八月十四日（公历1550年9月24日）。嘉靖四十二年（1563）成秀才。隆庆四年（1570）中举。万历十一年（1583）中进士，十二年八月赴任南京太常寺博士，十六年改南京詹事府主簿，十七年升南京礼部祠祭司主事。万历十九年闰三月上《论辅臣科臣疏》，五月贬广东徐闻县典史。九月赴贬所，二十年回到临川家中，年底晋京，量移浙江遂昌知县。万历二十一年三月到任，在任奖励农耕，抑制豪强，兴建相圃书院。万历二十六年初在北京上计后向吏部告假归里，万历二十九年正月吏部大计，被以“浮躁”名义正式罢职，自此闲居，万历四十四年六月十六日（公历1616年7月29日）去世。
