本教材是美国Pierre David教授20余年从事“靠前物流”教学的结晶，配合大量的图表和实例，对靠前物流中各个要素(靠前合同、靠前贸易条款、靠前运输等)进行了详尽的描述，已被美国多数商学院选为“靠前物流”课程的教材。PierreDaVid教授与具有多年丰富海上运输实践经验的RiChard Stewan教授联手合作，于2006年12月完成了对本教材的再版。新版教材中融入了Stewart教授在靠前海运和靠前保险中的实务经验，并对靠前版教材进行了大量的增补。
