肖亦农，河北保定人。毕业于北京大学中文系，后又毕业于鲁迅文学院与北京师范大学研究生班。自青年时代起，生活和工作在内蒙古鄂尔多斯高原。现为内蒙古作家协会名誉主席，鄂尔多斯作家协会主席。1973年开始发表作品，已出版小说、散文、报告文学、影视文学等300多万字，其中有长篇小说《黑界地》、中篇小说《红橄榄》《灰腾梁》等影响较大，获得内蒙古索龙嘎文学奖、十月文学奖、小说月报“百花奖”等。报告文学《毛乌素绿色传奇》荣获全国第十二幅五个一工程奖，并获得第六届鲁迅文学奖报告文学奖。
