玛丽?普莱蒂斯(Mary Polites) is co-director of BiDL (Biomimetic Design Lab) at the Design & Innovation College (D&I) at Tongji University in Shanghai, China. She is also co-founder and director of MAPS (Methods for the Architecture of Patterns and Systems), a design collective specialized in design solutions for the integration of human and natural systems at all scales. She holds a master's degree in architecture from the Emergent Technologies and Design program (EmTech) at the London Architectural Association (AA), and an accredited professional bachelor's degree in architecture from New Jersey Institute of Technology. She has taught at Washington State University under the Weller Fellowship, and as an assistant professor at D&I, where she led studios and seminars related to biomimetics and environmental design. Since 2014 she has been a tutor for units at the Architectural Association Visiting School Programs in Shanghai, Xixinan, Shenzhen and Guatemala. Her current work and research focus on the intersection of environmental science with computational tools exploring material and architectural design.
