查尔斯·狄更斯，十九世纪英国伟大的批判现实主义作家。1843年，《圣诞颂歌》靠前次出版发行。《圣诞颂歌》是查尔斯·狄更斯的三部圣诞小说之一，其他两部为《钟声》和《炉边蟋蟀》。这三部短篇小说虽不像狄更斯白勺长篇小说《双城记》、《大卫·科波菲尔》等那么有名，但它们的象征意义却是十分深远的，尤其是它们奠定了现代圣诞节的内涵。
