Corporal punishment,or physical torturing,does more harm to the children's physical growth,leaving much shadow on the psychological well-being of the child. An example goes to the Americanpop superstar, Michael Jackson. When he was a child, his father bullied(欺负) him badly wheneverhe did not want to dance as expected. At some incidences(事件) of this kind,he broke up with hisfather. The father and son relationship never reconciled(和解 ) afterwards ,leaving Jackson an emo-tional scar never recovered. Parents and teachers impulsively box (击打) children's ears and slap(v. 拍 ) them on the faces in the hope to cultivate the young generation stern (严厉) discipline(n. 纪律)will some day only find they are harming the proper relationship between them and theyoung or even worse,cracking down (压制) the self-respect which the young need so much for ahealthy psychological development. Paragraph 3 3 The practice of selling junk food in the school should be stopped. For one reason, the junk foodmachines throughout the school contribute to unsightly (有雅观 ) litter. As far as the footballfield,potato chip packages and soft drink cans scatter (分开) and constitute an unpleasant eye-catching sight with the bright colors. Worse still ,consumption of junk food can lead to poor academicperformance.
