本书从系统功能语法角度，对诸如What I want is this.的这类英语结构进行了“隐喻-一致分析”研究。传统语法从形式角度，把这类结构跟分裂句（如It is this that I want.）联系起来，称之为假分裂句；而系统功能语法则从功能角度，把它与原生句（如I want this.）联系起来，称之为“主位等同结构”。因此，对这类结构的系统功能语法“隐喻-一致分析”就是把这类结构本身。
