摘要
古籍发源于唐,成书于宋,因而“宋版书”尤其珍贵。“宋版书”不仅刊印精美,装潢考究,宋人工书法,崇尚欧阳询、颜真卿、柳公权的字体,风气所尚,也影响到版刻事业。至于收藏,“品相完好”和“稀缺”是评价古籍的两大关键。

以雕版精善而言,中国历朝印刷,殆无能超过宋代。

在中国需要印一本著作时,先由善书之手将书文抄写在板上,慎校之,校读者的名字常刻在板背后。抄文次由镌工精刻,书中每页连续排号。刻成后,将板置于封袋中,委可靠之人收管。需用此书者可先付政府规定费用,将板自袋中取出,置纸于板上而印之。如此可免传抄致讹误,代代相循,亦不至失真。

唐宋两代都有古文运动,然而从历目前看,北宋的古文运动相比于唐代古文运动似乎更为成功。这究竟是何种原因造成的呢?原因当然可以总结很多,但是我们更要注意雕版印刷在北宋的兴盛推广,正是两次古文运动有所区别的重要前提条件之一。

宋朝之所以堪称雕版印刷的黄金时间,与其政治相对稳定有莫大关联。终结五代十国那纷乱局面,国家重归于统一,为政者得以大兴文教,对课本和参考书需求甚殷。为了巩固皇权,宣扬封建思想,对搜集儒家经典古本尤为热衷,再交国子监刻印,供坊间选购。

“唐代科举考试已经实施,而对社会的影响仍然有限,明经科尤其是大族子弟出身的途径,知识传播的局限性应该是造成这种现象的因素之一。到了宋代,知识的传播已经远比唐代来得普遍,印刷术的推广和学校教育的兴盛,是导致宋代知识传播日益普遍的两项重要因素。”
