Are people too serious？
Admittedly， being serious is truly beneficial for everyone aiming for their own goals.However，I do not think people are overly serious， as exceeding seriousness may lead one to stick to a circumstance or notion so that he or she cannot explore on a different perspective and neglect many other important qualities.Muggsy Bogues， the shortest basketball player ever played in NBA，and Fields，仇ecommander in chief of the project to build cable down to the seafloor of the Atlantic can use their personal experience as examples to my own point of view.

Muggsy Bogues did not take others mockery and criticism too senous and succeed to be a player in NBA， with a height of only 5'3".When Bogues announced his own goal to play in NBA to his friends and family， almost all of the people laughed at this overly ambitious goal.At the time he played in the school team， he was often criticized for being too weak that if a taller player touched him， he would always fly away.Although the mockery and the criticism were really severe and harsh， Bogues did not take them overly serious.Instead， he viewed them as his own propulsion and motivation to keep on working.He tried to transform his disadvantage， the height， into an advantage.After practiced really hard， he succeeds to play in NBA and became a wonderful player with his great speed and alacrity.During an interview， Bogues said to the interviewer that if he did view those mockeries overly seriously， he would have been so afraid of佑ilure and give up his dream. Fields， commanding仇e Atlantic Cable project， did not take the widely used method of building cable overly serious and found out flaws in the method.Assigned to be the commander in chide of the great project， Fields was asked to stick to the previously widely used method to build cable from the starting point to the destination.Instead of viewing仇e old method with exceeding seriousness，Fields regard it as changeable.After several failures， Fields found a significant flaw in that method：the shaking caused when cable collide with the seafloor was so powerful that it often broke the cable.In order to eliminate the great collision， Fields came up with a new method to build cable.He slowed the cable building process and let two cruises to set out the cable form both仇e starting point and the destination so that they will meet at a certain point in the ocean.In 1868， using his own plan， Fields succeeded and people in England can communicate with people in America through telegraph.If Fields had taken the old method too serious， he would have not succeeded in such a short period of time.
