    办刊宗旨是“新、快、准”，特别突出“新、快”的特点。报道内容涵盖化学各领域，重点发表前沿交叉和重点热点领域的近期新研究成果，及时反映化学各相关领域的近期新进展及热点问题，目前栏目包括快报类研究论文（Letters）、小评述（Accounts）和综述性文章（Mini review）。读者对象为化学及各相关领域的科研人员、研究生和大学教师。
    2期刊历史及编委会
    《中国化学快报》创刊于1990年7月，由我国有名化学家梁晓天院士策划并担任主编，邀请我国化学界l9位资历院士组成编委会队伍，共同创办我国化学界专享的综合性学术快报类期刊，其目的是通过快速发表研究成果，加速学术交流，促进我国化学学科的快速发展。创刊之初就采用全英文发表，目的是利于与靠前同行交流，给化学工作者提供一个靠前交流的平台。本刊l993年被SCl收录，1997年与Springer出版公司合作，2007年与荷兰Elsevier出版公司合作，是靠前期刊中较早与国外有名出版公司合作的期刊。目前，期刊的全文在世界优选的科技数据平台ScienceDirect上出版，较早地实现了电子版与印刷版同时在靠前外出版发行。通过与国外出版公司合作，提升了期刊的知名度，培养了编辑，使期刊的编校质量实现了与靠前期刊接轨，加速了期刊的靠前化进程。通过合作，也使期刊的管理运行更符合靠前标准。
    《中国化学快报》靠前、第二届编委会由24位靠前外有名化学家组成，其中院士19位，外籍编委2名，他们为期刊的发展方向及时定位，为期刊学术质量把关，奠定了期刊良好的发展基础。第三届编委会已组建完成，已于2012年8月召开了新一届编委会，目前由70位靠前外有名专家组成，华东理工大学校长、有名化学家钱旭红院士担任主编，编委队伍中有院士14位，靠前编委大多为长江学者或“杰青”获得者。新一届编委会成员很好热心期刊的发展，他们不仅亲自审稿，而且积极投稿和组稿，相信在他们的带领下，本刊一定会实现跨越式发展。
    《中国化学快报》拥有1000多人的靠前外审稿专家队伍，其中海外审稿专家300多人，占审稿专家队伍的30％，覆盖化学学科各专业，他们对稿件的学术质量严格把关，并为期刊积极撰写、推荐很好稿件，为期刊的快速发展发挥了积极作用。创刊20多年来，《中国化学快报》得到了长足发展，已逐步成长为一本具有一定靠前影响力的靠前性学术刊物。
