Text 2 ) My name is Rita. I am in Grade Nine in Happy Time Middle School. Most of the students in our school always volunteer our time to do something. I like painting and I often paint for the school newspaper. My best friend Kathy loves singing and she sings for the old people or sings to raise money for homeless people. Kathy's brother Fred likes reading funny stories and he is good at telling stories and jokes, so he often visits sick kids in the hospital to cheer them up. My classmate Pierre enjoys playing football very much and he teaches the kids around his home to play football. Pierre's partner Jimmy loves animals and on weekends he works in animal hospitals. All of us are very happy that we can offer help to others. ( Text 3 ) Table manners in China are different from those in the Western countries. In China, it's a custom to have some tea or other drinks before a meal, while in Western countries, people often have a small bread roll and put the napkin on their laps first. People prefer using chopsticks in China instead of forks and knives. What's more, in China the dishes are placed on the table and everyone tastes them, while in the West everyone has their own plates of food. As for the toast, Western people always have a small drink each time, but in some parts of China people finish the whole drink each time. ( Text 4 ) I'm John. I have been in China for more than three years. I have been to many interesting places in Shanghai, but I haven't been to many other parts of China yet. So I decided to visit Mount Tai in Shandong Province with my family this vaeation. We all thought the best way to travel was to take the train. We set out early to take the train. The train was quite comfortable, and there weren't too many people. We eould stand up and walk around and none of us felt tired. We kept watching the faseinating sights out of the windows. We talked, laughed and played eards. After several hours, the train got to Taian Train Station. The train ride seemed really short, but we will always remember the wonderful trip.
