本词典根据《牛津袖珍英语词典》（Pocket Oxford English Dictionary）很新的1版翻译而成，系POD很新双解版。本词典共收录词条、短语和释义120,000余条，不仅涵盖日常工作、生活、学习中所需的用语，还包含政治、经济、体育、文化、医学等各个领域的专业词汇。同时，本版特别增收了很多近几年才出现的新词（如app,defriend, phone hacking）、新义项（如link, poster, shortcut），修订了部分条目的释义、短语、派生词、词源和专栏。
