斯内尔-霍恩比著的《翻译研究：综合法》初版 于1987年，现为1995年修订版。 玛丽·斯内尔-霍恩比借鉴吸收语言学派和文学 派翻译理论各自的优势和长处，提出建立翻译研究为 一门独立学科的见解，并运用格式塔整体理论及场景 一框架语义学等理论倡导翻译研究的综合方法。此外 ，作者在《翻译研究：综合法》中还对翻译理论研究 方面的近期趋向作了介绍和梳理。

玛丽·斯内汮－霍恩比，任教于维也纳大学翻译传译学系，长期从事英语、德语翻译，是欧洲翻译协会的创始人之一。
