作者简介
托马斯·哈代(Thomas Hardy,1840—1928),英国著名小说家、诗人,是一位跨世纪的文学巨匠。在哈代的众多作品中,《苔丝》是他最重要的代表作,也是英语文学中最伟大的作品之一。小说主人公苔丝这一形象已成为世界文学长廊中最优美迷人的女性形象之一。该书出版一百多年来,一直畅销至今,被译成世界上几十种语言,是全世界公认的世界文学名著之一。
