以课标中的核心词汇 为依据，增加阅读中核心 词汇的复现率和在真实语 境中的使用率。 以课标中的功能意念 为依据，结合学生的真实 生活，寻找合适的素材内 容，让阅读成为学生的习 得工具，通过阅读，提升 学生运用英语的能力。 以培养学生的跨文化 意识为宗旨，选取不同文 化的阅读素材，让学生在 阅读中了解、体验不同文 化。 凸显英语学科的育人 价值，选取符合正确道德 价值观的、富含人生启迪 价值的阅读素材，让学生 在阅读中启迪心智、通晓 事理。 本书由25个主题 （Theme）组成，每个 主题下有两个话题 （Topic），每个话题下 有四项作业（Task）。 作业从音标、单词、词组 入手，再到句子、写作， 精心编制了各种题型。 每篇短文下面都有一 个词汇表（WordBank） ，把短文里出现的重点单 词和生词等收录其中，便 于学生在阅读文章的同时 积累词汇。
